The Shelby Report, the monthly authority on the grocery business, named Certco the Midwest Wholesaler of the Year and named Certco CEO Amy Niemetscheck the 2019 National Woman Executive of the Year. Ron Johnston, President & Publisher of the Shelby Report, and Stephanie Reid, Executive Vice President, came up from Gainesville, Georgia, to present the awards at Certco headquarters in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, on Oct. 7, 2019.
The October issue of The Shelby Report of the Midwest featured a 26-page section in the magazine about Certco and Amy Niemetscheck. Certco’s Executive Vice President David Ryman was interviewed along with the directors of all of the major departments within Certco. The magazine also featured the stories of several grocery stores that Certco supplies as told by the store owners. Niemetscheck’s initiative to get Certco employees volunteering in the community was highlighted.
Employee retention and welfare has been one of Niemetscheck’s focuses since becoming CEO in March 2019.
It’s a challenge in making sure those 500 people are the right 500 people and that I can retain those 500 people. The job market here in Madison is very competitive. We have a lot of cutting-edge technology businesses. These software companies aren’t just looking for programmers; they’re looking generally for people with open minds and good ideas. That’s the type of people I want to keep here, too. (The Shelby Report, Oct. 2019, p. 48)
