Scholarship winners announced

In 2018, Certco began a program to award academic scholarships to the children of employees. Certco is pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 scholarships. We awarded three scholarships for $1,000 each.

One scholarship was for a current senior in high school. The second was for a current college/tech school student. And the third scholarship we are calling the Certco Proud Scholarship. This was for a student from amongst all of the applicants who did not score the highest but that the Scholarship Committee felt showed extra merit.

The winners of the 2019 Certco Academic Scholarships were:

  • High School: Annabelle Behrens, daughter of Amy Behrens
  • College: José Sánchez-Rodríguez, son of Jose Sanchez
  • Certco Proud: Claudia Mena, daughter of Alberto Mena

Special thanks to Adam Kristiansen and Mindy McCord from the Sales team for presenting the high school award.

The committee members had to score each application on a five-category scoring rubric, which was used to ensure fairness and accuracy. The essay that each applicant wrote was scored with double the possible points as the other categories. The committee met in December to discuss the applicants and decide upon the winners.

The members of the Scholarship Committee were:

  • Daniel Stout, co-chair
  • Nanette Strennen, co-chair
  • Nicole Anderson, co-chair
  • Brooke Myers
  • Dan Drake
  • Daniel Arreola
  • Jordan Jensen
